Kenneth Iheme rushed for 180 yards and 3 touchdowns and quarterback Matt Reed added 150 yards on the ground and 2 scored as number one ranked Wichita Heights beat the Great Bend Panthers Friday night in Wichita 55-14.
The Panthers, who fell behind early 7-0, answered on their first possession by driving for the tying touchdown on a 15-yard pass to Mauricio Uribe from Mitch Kottas. But Heights was just two powerful for Great Bend to contend with. The Falcons led 28-7 at halftime and went on to the easy win despite losing three fumbles and a dropped punt return.
Great Bend’s touchdown in the second half came on another hookup between Kottas and Uribe, this time from 8-yards out. Kottas passed for 62 yards on 9-18 passing but threw 2 interceptions. The Panthers were able to muster only 60 yards on the ground.
Great Bend returns home Friday night as they will host WAC leader Dodge City at Memorial Stadium.
