LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) – The Kansas Jayhawks have spent more than a week licking their wounds from the thrashing put on them by Georgia Tech.
Their game Saturday against Texas Tech (3-0) can’t get here soon enough.
Kansas (2-1) had a bye last week after enduring a 66-24 beating by the Yellow Jackets. The defense gave up more than 600 yards rushing in that game, and is now ranked at or near the bottom nationally in every significant category.
Coach Turner Gill believes that the bye week came at a good time to allow the Kansas coaching staff to re-evaluate the defense, including the playing time that’s doled out and the schemes put in place. And he vowed that improvement should be seen beginning with the Jayhawks’ Big 12 opener.
