A Rice County man has been indicted on bank robbery charges.
27-year-old Jacob W. Schrock, of Lyons, is charged with one count of armed bank robbery, one count of unlawful possession of sawed off shotgun in furtherance of bank robbery and one count of unlawful possession of a sawed off shotgun. The indictment alleges that on Sept. 13, 2011, he robbed the Citizens Bank of Arlington in Reno County, Kan.
Schrock initially was charged in a criminal complaint filed Sept. 14 in U.S. District Court in Wichita, Kan.
If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of 25 years in federal prison and a fine up to $250,000 on the armed bank robbery charge, not less than 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the charge of unlawful possession of a firearm in furtherance of bank robbery, and a maximum penalty of 10 years and a fine up to $250,000 on the charge of unlawful possession of a sawed off shot gun.
The FBI investigated. Assistant U.S. Attorney Lanny Welch is prosecuting.
