Klein Emerges As Wildcats Leader

MANHATTAN, Kan. (AP) – Collin Klein doesn’t have the smoothest throwing motion. He takes a lot of hits and doesn’t always make the best decisions.

But what has thrust the quarterback onto the national radar are the results – Klein has No. 20 Kansas State off to a 4-0 start and its highest national ranking since 2003.

Klein spent last season as a change-of-pace quarterback, someone that coach Bill Snyder could send into the game to run the option. This season, Klein has taken almost every snap for the Wildcats, and has shown enough passing ability to keep defenses guessing.

That’s what happened last Saturday, when Kansas State upset then-No. 15 Baylor. And it’s what will need to happen this Saturday when the Wildcats host Missouri.
