            Peggy A. Stambaugh, age 78 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away at River Bend Assisted Living in Great Bend on Thursday afternoon, May 10, 2012.  Peggy was born on October 14, 1933 in rural Barton County, Kansas to August E. and Alice E. (Smith) Christiansen.  She graduated from Great Bend High School in 1951, and was united in marriage to Weston L. “Wes” Stambaugh on July 19, 1953 at Great Bend.  The couple made their home in Great Bend, and were former members of the Golden Belt Gem & Mineral Society and later the Wichita Gem & Mineral Society.  Her husband, Wes, passed away on January 21, 2004.  When her children were young, Peggy was a Cub Scout Leader and Campfire Girls Leader in addition to being a homemaker, and she also bowled on the Wednesday Night League in Great Bend for many years.  A long-time member of King United Methodist Church in Great Bend, she was also active in the United Methodist Women.  Peggy loved crocheting and various other crafts.

            Survivors include three sons:  Dale (and his wife, Jackie) Stambaugh of Muskegon, Michigan, Jerry (and his wife, Lisa) Stambaugh of Hoisington, Kansas and Jay (and his wife, Rachel) Stambaugh of Great Bend, Kansas; one daughter, Carol (and her husband, David) Keyse of Great Bend, Kansas; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; four brothers:  David (and his wife, Beverly) Christiansen of Great Bend, Kansas, Arthur (and his wife, Hanne) Christiansen of Colorado Springs, Colorado,  Bruce (and his wife, Lucie) Christiansen of Lebo, Kansas, and Jon (and his wife, Rosa) Christiansen of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters:  Sandy (and her husband, Joe) Brown of Chattanooga, Tennessee and Glenna Grant of Garden City, Kansas; several nieces and nephews.  Peggy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

            Funeral Services will be held ­at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 14, 2012 at King United Methodist Church, 1608 Odell Street, Great Bend with Pastor Scott Tempero officiating.  Interment will be in the Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in rural Barton County.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at Charter Funerals in Great Bend, and then at the church on Monday from 9:30 to 10:20 AM.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to King United Methodist Church Youth Programs or Hospice Care of Kansas.  Online condolences may be left and a complete obituary notice may be viewed athttps://www.charterfunerals.com/obituary/chgb.
