Mr. Chakir was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp, serving during WWII.
A farmer and stockman, Mr. Chakir had been a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1981, coming from Washington, KS.
Norman was a member of the Lutheran faith and the American Legion.

pm until 8:00 pm Friday.
