He was a United States Army veteran during World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations.
He was a member of Central Baptist Church, American Legion Argonne Post 180, and Silver Cougar Club, all of Great Bend.

He was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Anne Myers; one sister, Betty Palmer; and one great-grandson, Will Myers.
