She graduated with an Associates Degree from Barton Community College in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program. After graduating, she moved to Buena Park, CA, where she worked within her profession. In 2006, she and her daughter, Taylor, relocated to Broken Arrow, Okla., where she continued her profession as an Occupational Therapy Assistant, working for the Tulsa Nursing Center.
She was a member of Association of Occupational Therapy Assistants.

She was preceded in death by her father, James “Jim” Nairn.
