Robert married Mildred L. LeRoy November 7, 1944 in Wichita, KS.

A lifetime Barton County resident, Robert was a painter and decorator for many years and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, his church, and family. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served as an elder and a church school teacher.

He was preceded in death by his parents and by five brothers, Marion Harders, Martin Harders, Ralph Harders, Allen Harders, and Delmar Harders.
