John was born in Mitchell, SD and was a graduate of Plankington High School in Plankington, SD and a veteran of the Koren War. He was a self-employed man who worked hard at many jobs to sustain his large family. His work included farming, milk delivery routes, feedlot work, and a brief stint at the Larned State Hospital. He had a life-long interest in finding new uses for items. Even long after he retired he continued to tear down old houses and barns to salvage the lumber.
John was a devoted father who was proud of his family and taught them the value of hard work. He was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
The family sincerely appreciates the excellent care provided by Dr. Sanger, Dr. Alcindor and Dr. Estephan, and all the staff at Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned. The family is grateful that their dad was able to spend his last days surrounded by, not only his family, but also his loving health care providers for many years. It was evident our dad’s personality and smile affected others in the way that the staff really cared for him.
