OBITUARY INFORMATION

Okie married Mildred Rychlock on November 2, 1940. She died April 22, 1988.

He then married Gladys Eitel VanPelt May 26, 1990 at Scott City, KS.  She survives.

He was the owner & operator of Fairlane Trucking Company, and previously bowled professionally, played semi professional baseball and softball, and was an avid golfer.

He was a member of the Shrine Club and was a Mason for nearly 60 years.

Mr. Young had been a Great Bend, KS resident, since 2011, coming from Valley Vista, AZ, Lake Havasu, AZ, and Clawson, MI.

Four sons: Burgess Young and wife Maureen of Royal Oak, MI

                   Randolph Young and wife Donna of Troy, MI

                   Brian Young and wife Karen of Clawson, MI

                   Gary Young and wife Martha of Washington D.C.

Two daughters: Gloria Boomer and husband Gary of Levering, MI

                            Annette Kramer  and husband Glen of Stafford, VA

Two step sons: Ryan Van Pelt and wife Ruth of Great Bend, KS

                     Regan Van Pelt and wife Bertie of McPherson, KS

One step daughter: Marlene Murphy and husband Larry, Scott City, KS

One son-in-law:  Fred Crockett, Carp Lake, MI

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, Troy Gilman; one son, Richard Young; a daughter, Pamela Crockett; and by one sister, Opal Calkins

 

SERVICE INFORMATION

Graveside Memorial Service:  Thursday, October 24, 2013 at 2:00 p.m., with Military Committal Rites

                                                         conducted by American Legion Post #190 Honor Guard

Place of Graveside Service:  Dighton Cemetery, Dighton, KS

Officiant:  Pastor Danny Parker
