John D. Trimmer, age 65 years, of Great Bend, Kansas and formerly of Pawnee Rock and Dundee, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday afternoon, October 8, 2014 at Great Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend. John was born on February 11, 1949 at Belleville, Kansas to George Franklin and Edna Alene (Larr) Trimmer. He graduated from Republic County Schools in 1965 and was united in marriage to Diana Levingston on June 10, 1976 at Pawnee Rock, Kansas. John worked as a Chain Hand in the Oilfield prior to his retirement. He enjoyed rock collecting, watching wrestling, and spending time with family.
Survivors include six sons: Joe Paul (and his wife, Jennifer) Trimmer of Dundee, Kansas, Joseph, Timothy, Josh, and Ian Trimmer, all of Great Bend, Kansas, and Matt Harvey of Houston, Texas; six daughters: Tonya, Audrey, Heather, and Melissa Trimmer, all of Great Bend, Kansas, Christina Trimmer of Mankato, Kansas and Virginia Trimmer of Enid, Oklahoma; sixteen grandchildren; one sister, Freda Brown of Mankato, Kansas. John was preceded in death by his parents, his wife (Diana Trimmer on July 22, 2013), and one brother (George Trimmer).
Memorial Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Monday, October 13, 2014 at Charter Funerals in Great Bend,Kansas with Don Paden officiating. Inurnment will take place at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the John D. Trimmer Memorial Fund in care of the funeral home.
