OBITUARY INFORMATION

He married Shelly Beth Freeman January 16, 1970 at Great Bend, Kansas.

He worked foreman for Farley Machine Works, Co. from 1973 to 2013, retiring as the foreman.

Mr. Shelton was a lifetimeGreat Bend, Kansas resident.

He was a United States Navy veteran, serving during the Vietnam conflict, serving aboard the USS Mauna Kea and the USS Midway.

He was a member of American Legion Argonne Post 180 and the United States Bowling Congress. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and bowler as well as loved drag racing. Above all else, he loved his family.

Mother: Joyce Shelton of Great Bend, KS

one son: Jason Shelton and his wife Jenny of Wilson, KS

one daughter: Tasha DiLoreto and her husband Dan of Wichita, KS

two sisters: Melody Cell and her husband Sam of Bazine, KS, Sharon Wondra and her husband Harold of Great Bend, KS

two sisters-in-law, Rhonda Shelton of Great Bend, KS and Michelle Shelton of Salina, KS

Seven Grandchildren: Jarod Shelton, Jena Shelton, Trista Shelton, McKenzie King, Lexus King, Danny DiLoreto, and Austin McGinnes and his wife Kayla

 

He was preceded in death by his father, Raymond Shelton, and two brothers, Mike Shelton and Rick Shelton.

 

SERVICE INFORMATION

Funeral Service: Wednesday, October 22, 2014

Time of Service: 2:00 p.m.

Place of Service: Bryant Funeral Home

Officiant: The Reverend John Grummon

Interment: Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas, with military rites by United States Navy Honor Guard

Visitation:  9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 21, 2014 and 9:00 a.m. to service time Wednesday at Bryant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the funeral home.

Memorial Fund: St. Rose Foundation for the Benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home
