Larned – Bernice S. Zook, 91, passed away November 20, 2014 at Diversicare of Larned. She was born November 28, 1922, in Stafford County, the daughter of Owen E. and Powerley Gilliland Smith. A lifetime area resident, she was a beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother and homemaker.

She belonged to the First United Methodist Church, Larned, the Zook EHU. She developed a passion for cooking.

On April 21, 1946, she married Milford E. Zook in Larned. Milford passed away July 5, 1998. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Virgil Smith and a sister, Erma Estes.
She will be forever remembered by four sons, John Zook; son, James (Jane) Zook and their children Denny Zook, Jesse Zook, Jacqueline Zook, Deanne (David) Locke and Elizabeth, Carolyn (Jacob) Robison and Alexandra; son, Dean (Kathy) Zook and their children Aaron (Roxi) Zook and Conner, Holly (Stephen) Milligan and Zokora; Kelsey (Jason) Lueger; son, Dale (Beth) Zook and their children Amy (Jay) Derley and Adrianna and Dallas; Stacy (Michael) Trout and Colborn and Zavier.

Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned, with Rev. Bethann Black presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at Beckwith Mortuary. Burial will be in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Zook.
