News surfaced this month that struggling electronics retailer RadioShack has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection and will sell up to 2,400 stores.
Those closings will include the store in Great Bend.
Great Bend Chamber of Commerce President Jan Peters expects the store to shut down later this year.

Along with Great Bend, five locations in Wichita, one in Newton, Hutchinson, Emporia, and Pittsburg are expected to close.
Peters continued with her economic development report by telling city council members the old Sears building on south Main Street has received a heavy makeover.

The owner has made three different locations on the end caps of the structure. The Goodwill Store is plopped down in the middle. Peters believed one of those sections was about 8,0000 square feet, another close to 4,000, and the final one roughly 1,500 square feet.
Within in the next few months the City of Great Bend and the owner would like to have an open house of sorts to showcase the renovated buildings for any business looking for a starting location or to relocate.
