PEORIA — Wichita State defeated Bradley for the 11th consecutive time Wednesday night at Carver Arena 62-59, but it was a struggle for the 16th-ranked Shockers.
Bradley (7-17, 2-9) outscored WSU 14-5 in the final six minutes. But Donte Thomas’ inbound pass with 4.6 seconds left sailed errantly over Auston Barnes’ head to end the BU threat.
The Shockers (20-3, 10-1) used an early 8-0 run to forge an 8-2 lead and a 35-22 halftime advantage. WSU led by as many as 17 points in the second half. Bradley pulled to within 39-34 five minutes into the second half after a Barnes 3-pointer, but the Shockers used an 11-2 spurt — keyed by two Ron Baker 3-pointers — to surge back to a double-digit lead.
LUBBOCK, Texas — Kansas State has suspended leading scorer Marcus Foster and reserve forward Malek Harris for violating team rules.
Coach Bruce Weber made the announcement before Wednesday night’s game at Texas Tech. Weber did not provide any further details in the release from the school, but he says he hopes the players “will learn from this experience and make the necessary progress to rejoin our team.”
Foster averages 14 points per game. The sophomore guard also leads the Wildcats with 54 3-pointers.
Harris, a freshman, averages 2.2 points in 13.6 minutes per game.
Meanwhile, Justin Jamison has been dismissed from the Texas Tech squad for violation of team rules, coach Tubby Smith said later Wednesday.
Jamison appeared in nine games this season, averaging 2.7 points and 2.0 rebounds.

WASHINGTON (AP) — The nation’s new postmaster general says the Postal Service is looking beyond its regular mail and package delivery for new sources of revenue.
And that means building on what Megan J. Brennan calls its “core competency” — the delivery of goods.
The Postal Service is testing grocery delivery in San Francisco and delivering cases of drinking water to customers in parts of New York City.
During the 2014 holiday season, it joined with Amazon to deliver packages and expand Sunday deliveries of them.
The 52-year-old Brennan — the first woman to be postmaster general — is easing into her first days on the job.
She’s a 29-year veteran of the Postal Service who started her career as a letter carrier in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
It appears that the new football coach at Hays High School will be Cimarron head coach Randall Rath.
Catchitkansas.com was the first to report that Rath would be leaving Cimarron after one season to replace Bo Black, who left Hays following the 2014 campaign.
Cimarron Athletic Director David Ediger confirmed the news to Catchitkansas.com’s Reggie Wilson. Ediger said he discovered Rath would be leave on Tuesday night. Rath told the players on Wednesday morning.
Prior to his one year at Cimarron, Rath spent more than two decades as the head coach at Oakley high school.
WICHITA -Dallas running back Joseph Randle has been arrested for the second time in less than four months, this time on suspicion of marijuana possession after a domestic violence call to police in his hometown in Kansas.
Wichita police spokesman Lt. James Espinoza said Randle was arrested early Tuesday after the 22-year-old mother of Randle’s child called 911 to report she fought with him in a hotel room. Espinoza said the woman showed no signs of being injured.
The 23-year-old Randle was arrested after a small amount of marijuana was found.
In October, Randle was arrested on a misdemeanor shoplifting charge at a Dallas-area mall. He just finished his second season as the backup to DeMarco Murray, who led the NFL in rushing in 2014.
Robert Ingersoll of Great Bend gets the coffee brewing at Heartland Cancer Center. Ingersoll is a volunteer at the facility.
Robert Ingersoll of Great Bend knows what it’s like to be a cancer patient who needs a kind word or a helping hand.
And for the last several years, he has also known the rewards of extending that kindness.
Ingersoll is one of five Heartland Cancer Center (HCC) volunteers recently honored at a special luncheon at the Club at StoneRidge in Great Bend. The others were Mary Bayer, Kay Maneth, Nancy Soeken and Sister Stella Weber.
Even though Ingersoll is still an HCC patient, he finds the time to spend several hours a week helping his peers and the staff.
“I just do whatever they need me to do,” Ingersoll said. “I make coffee and wrap cookies, and take them to the patients. And when patients need a little help to their car, I will escort them.
“The staff at the cancer center has always treated me so well, and I wanted to give back,” he added. “Yes, there are some sad moments but it is rewarding and you meet a lot of nice people.”
Jamie Hutchinson, R.N. and radiation oncology clinic manager, said volunteers are invaluable to the patients and staff.
“Our volunteers can give patients a little extra one-on-one,” Hutchinson said. “They can visit with patients and help make them more comfortable.”
The number of hours spent at HCC is strictly up to the volunteers. In addition to helping with refreshments, they keep the magazine collection up-to-date, get blankets for patients and help with decorations.
“They can also relay messages to the staff,” Hutchinson said. “We hope to start asking volunteers to help us apply for grants through the Golden Belt Community Foundation too.”
Several new volunteers recently signed on to help and more people are encouraged to consider joining the group. For more information, contact Hutchinson by calling 620-792-5511.
