Belpre – Elmer A. Stegman, 88, passed away March 26, 2015 at Diversicare of Larned.
He was born December 21, 1926 in Ness City, the son of John and Margaret Dinkel Stegman. A longtime area resident, he was a road grader operator for the Belpre Township and Pleasant Valley Township.
He was a member of the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, both of Belpre.
On February 12, 1955, he married Hedwig (Hedy) Deiser in Ness City. She passed away October 12, 2001.
Survivors include: two sons, Mike Stegman, Newton and George Stegman, Belpre; three daughters, Mary Ann Haynes and Janet Stegman, both of Larned, Sheila Stegman, Newton; a brother, Virgil Stegman, Salina; a sister, Armella Dechant, Larned; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren; four step grandchildren and seven step great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary H. Stegman; two brothers, Gilbert and Charles Stegman and a sister, Mary Rose Likes.
Vigil will be at 7p.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday and 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Belpre Catholic Cemetery, Belpre.
