Larned – H. “Byron” Stilts, 78, passed away April 8, 2015 at the Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.

He was born October 4, 1936 in Edwards County, Kansas. The son of James Howard and Merab Bonita Salser Stilts. A lifetime area resident; he was a Linotype operator for various newspapers and was also a Licensed Mental Health Technician for the Larned State Hospital.

He was a member of the Fort Larned Lions Club and volunteered at the Welcome Inn Senior Center, both of Larned.

On October 8, 1961 he married Bernice Arlene Walter in Great Bend, Kansas. She passed away November 24, 1972.

Survivors include; a son, Brent Stilts (Faith), Springfield, Missouri; three sisters, Delores Bracknell, Cibolo, Texas, Laura Turner, Boulder, Colorado and Martha Wurtz, Las Vegas, Nevada and a grandson, Zachary Stilts, Springfield, Missouri.

He was preceded in death by; his wife Bernice and their daughter Beth Merab Stilts.

Funeral Service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Monday and Tuesday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be in the Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas.
