Charles Wesley “Charley” Calp, 67, died October 13, 2015, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born May 25, 1948, in Baltimore, MD, the son of Austin and Lillian (Tuzicka) Calp.
Charley graduated from Hoisington High School. He worked in the Oil Fields, in seismography work when he was first out of school. He then worked for Shirer Well Services on a pulling unit and later JayHawk Pipe Services rebuilding drilling rigs. He would also process furs for his brother at Calp’s Fur and Root. He loved fossil hunting and did programs teaching kids about fossils for the Grade Schools in Hoisington.
He is survived by a brother, Calvin “Trapper” Calp, of Hoisington, a half sister, Betty Puckett of Texas; a half brother, Alvin Brazda of Las Vegas, NV; two daughters, Janice Lauber and husband Daniel, and Louann Clark and husband Lawrence, all of Great Bend; twelve grandchildren; and twenty six great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and a half brother, Morris Brazda.
Memorial service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 23, 2015, at Nicholson Ricke Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Dick Ogle presiding.
Friends may sign the book at the funeral home and family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. There will be no viewing as cremation has taken place.
