Growing up in Ellinwood, he attended St. Joseph Catholic Grade School, and was a 1988 graduate of Ellinwood High School. He Graduated from Wichita State University in 1993; then completed his Doctorate from the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1998.  After completing his residency in Atlanta he continued working as an Emergency Department Physician.
