Rozel – Helen Marie Finger, 89, passed away June 10, 2016 at Hospice House of Reno County, Hutchinson.
She was born August 27, 1926, in Timken, Kansas, the daughter of Bohumil (B.F.) and Rose Mary Vsetecka Pechanec. A lifetime area resident, she was a teacher and homemaker.
She was a founding member of the Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Burdett, was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, Altar Society, Laudator PSR of Religion, a 4-H leader for Rozel Rockets, she served on the Election Board, was a faithful donor at the Blood Drives, was Lay Chaplain at the Department of Corrections and the Larned State Hospital and was active in all aspects of the church.
On May 11, 1948, she married Marvin Sylvester Finger in Timken, with Father Emil Kapaun as the Officiant. He passed away September 14, 2006.
Survivors include: five sons, Donald, (Marsha), Quinter; Edward, (Arlene), Andover; Marvin Jr., Eugene, Oregon; Stanley, Wichita; Steven, (Jeanne), Spokane, Washington; three daughters, Mary Mitchell, (Jim), Rozel; Trish Stacey, (Steve), Hutchinson; Beverly Biehl, (Allen), Austin, Texas; a brother, Frank, (MaryAnn), La Crosse; a sister Mary Urban, La Crosse; 22 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her mother and father; a sister, Rosemary Dome and an infant brother Johnny.
Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday June 15, 2016 with family present from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Vigil with a rosary to follow will be held 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned. Funeral mass will be 9:00 a.m., Friday, June 24, 2016 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Larned, with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Visitation will be 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, June 23, 2016 at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned.
