Married LaVera Urban July 21, 1996 at Great Bend, Kansas.

He was a tool grinder for Great Bend Industries and had worked as a meat cutter.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. He loved fishing, hunting, and showing his 1951 truck at car shows.

four sons: Steve Boyd and his wife Mona of Miami, Okla., Rex Boyd and his wife Devon of Rockport, Texas, Kiley Boyd Sizemore of Wichita, and Dean Jacobs and his wife Jo of Hoisington

five daughters: Mary K. Boyd of Lumberton, Texas, Kelly Edgell and her husband Shawn of Sedgwick, Brenda Smith and her husband Mark of Manhattan, Stephanie Jacobs of Great Bend, and Michelle Shelton of Salina

one sister: Eloise Coons of Coffeyville

Grandchildren: Eighteen

Great-grandchildren: Twenty-Five

 

He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Boyd, son-in-law, Rick Shelton, one brother, Maurice Boyd, and one great granddaughter, Chloe Gough.

 

SERVICE INFORMATION

Vigil Service will be at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, July 14, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, with Father Don Bedore celebrating. Burial will be in Great Bend Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to National Kidney Foundation or Epilepsy Foundation, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
