William “Bill” Seyfert Jr.

William “Bill” Seyfert Jr., 91 years old died on August 19, 2016 at the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital. Bill was born May 2, 1925 as an only child to William and Nannie Seyfert at Wilson, Kansas. Bill attended country school through the 8th grade and attended the Lutheran Church both of Wilson.
Bill married Connie White and to this union they were blessed with four sons: Fred, Bob, Ted, and Steve. Bill, as a widower, later married Maxine McCourtney at Burchfiel Church in Anthony, Kansas. She became ill and passed away, once again leaving Bill, a widower. On July 24, 1999 Bill married Jennie Van Ranken in Anthony and they made their home in Medicine Lodge.
Bill worked in Great Bend, Kansas for ACME Brick Company from which he retired. He then worked for Harper County as a Heavy Equipment Operator and later worked at the Farmer’s Coop in Isabel, Kansas. Bill enjoyed fishing, dancing, yardwork, traveling, riding his motorcycle and spending time in his little shop. Bill spent the last nine months of his life at the Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital Long Term Care Unit where he received wonderful care. He so missed being at home with Jennie and worked very hard trying to build himself back up to get home. He is remembered by the care team for always having a witty come back to them when they were joking with him and a smile. He was a member of the United Methodist Church.
Survivors include wife, Jennie of the home; four sons, Fred (Lorine), Bob (Karen), Ted, and Steve (Lisa); step-daughters, Diana (John) Englehardt and Anita (Pat) Bedwell, four step-sons, Howard (Loretta) Van Ranken, Doug (Cindy) Van Ranken , Ronnie (Cindy) Van Ranken, Roger (Tonia) Van Ranken; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and a host of friends.
Graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 2, 2016 at the Great Bend City Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas. Cremation has taken place.
Memorials are requested to the First Christian Church and Medicine Lodge Memorial Hospital, both of Medicine Lodge and may be sent in care of the funeral home.
