Marjorie “Marj” Christopher, 94, died August 30, 2016, at Grace of Leawood Assisted Living Facility. She was born November 5, 1921, in rural Hoisington, the daughter of Roy E. and Emma W. (Beetz) Underwood. Marjorie graduated from Hoisington High School in 1939. She was a member of First United Methodist Church.

A longtime Hoisington resident she was a homemaker. Marj moved to Leawood in 2007 and lived at Town Center Independent Living where she enjoyed playing bridge and bingo, and having dinner with her friends. She then moved to Grace of Leawood Assisted Living in 2013.

She was married to Vernon Wesley Christopher for 56 years. He died October 30, 1995.
Survivors include: children, Ron Christopher and wife Jolene of Overland Park, Judy M. Bangert and husband Larry of Denver, CO, Cheryl L. Cullison and husband Carl of Birmingham, AL; eight grandchildren, Lori Kearney, Kristin Dalla, Jennifer Deere, Jodi Christopher, Tracy Hudson, Andy Christopher, Kelly Smith, and Jason Cullison; and 11 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother, Wilbur Underwood, sister, Helen Stipes, and an infant brother, Robert Underwood.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m., Friday, September 2nd, 2016, at First United Methodist Church, Hoisington, Kansas, with The Rev. Dr. Reuben Lang’at presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call noon to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be made to Grace of Leawood in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
