NEIL   J. GORNEY 

Neil J. Gorney, age 55 years, of Great Bend, Kansas, passed away at his home in Great Bend on Thursday afternoon, December 29, 2016.   Neil was born on February 10, 1961 in Bay City, Michigan to Melvin J. and Isabelle (Compton) Gorney.   A resident of Great Bend, Kansas for the past eight years, he worked as a fire and water damage Restoration Specialist for ServPro in Bay City, Michigan and later in Great Bend, Kansas, as well as ServiceMaster in Great Bend.   He also did residential painting in Great Bend. Neil thoroughly enjoyed fishing, camping, coin collecting, card games, throwing horseshoes, and cooking outdoors, but he loved spending time with Grandkids the most.

Neil is survived by two daughters: Shanade Gorney and Shaneil Gorney, both of Alamosa, Colorado; three grandchildren; two brothers:   Randy (and his wife, Terri) Gorney of Oswego, Kansas and Shawn (and his wife, Michelle) Neering of Essexville, Michigan; two sisters:   Joyce Carpenter (and her fiance’, Keith Cramer) of Moundville, Missouri and Phyllis Gorney (and her fiance’, Jim) of Bay City, Michigan; one sister-in-law, Deb Kroening of Albright Shores, Michigan; numerous nieces and nephews.   He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shawneen Gorney on December 31, 2008, and one brother, Conrad “Skip” Kroening.
