Lester L. Lindsay

Dateline: Olmitz, Kansas

Lester L. “Buck” Lindsay, 87, died December 4, 2017, at Diversicare of Larned.
He was born September 28, 1930, on the farm, in rural Olmitz, Kansas, the son of Charles and Caroline “Lena” (Reimer) Lindsay. Buck attended Hoisington High School and then joined the United States Army where he served as a corporal during the Korean War.

A lifetime resident of Barton County, living in Hoisington and Olmitz area. Buck was a heavy equipment operator for the county. After he retired from the county, he maintained the rural Olmitz roads.

Buck was a member of the Hoisington V.F.W. Post #7428, where he was a former commander. He was also the world champion barb wire splicer.

On February 14, 1961, he married Dolores R. Brewer in Hoisington. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2010.

Survivors include; three daughters, Sue Lindsay of Paola, Pam Bonham and husband Ken of Larned, and Debra Lindsay of Mesquite, Texas; daughter-in-law, Lisa Crist of Olmitz; a brother, Keith Lindsay and wife Marilyn of Olathe; four grandchildren, Tyler Bonham, Amy Schmidt, Andrea Amador, and Shauna Karpe; and 8 great grandchildren, Collin and Liam Schmidt, Dominic and Austin Manley, Hailee and Gracie Bonham, Vincent Sample, and Cody Allison; one great great grandson; several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Dolores, son, Lester A. Lindsay, two brothers, Chester “Chet” Lindsay and Richard Lindsay; and a sister, Maxine Gage.

Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Don Fisher presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery, with military honors conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard.

Friends may call 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday.
