Helen Margaret (Penka) Kalina, daughter of Emil and Hedwig (Heger) Penka, died December 11, 2014, at Locust Grove Village, La Crosse. She was born December 9, 1924, at Redwing, Kansas. She married Joseph J. Kalina at O’Neill, Nebr. on October 10, 1950. He died May 29, 1980.
She is survived by many nieces and nephews.
She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church at Hoisington, Ks. and the St. John Altar Society of Hoisington. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters of America for over 25 years at O’Neill, NE. She had been a housekeeper for the priests for over 15 years and was a retired homemaker.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday April 25, 2015, at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Calvary Cemetery, O’Neill, NE at a later date. Cremation has taken place. Friends are welcome to sign the memorial book Monday through Friday. Memorials are to St. John the Evangelist Church, in care of Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home, PO Box 146, Hoisington, KS 67544.
