Helen R. Templing, 86, died June 16, 2015, at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation, Great Bend. She was born January 31, 1929, the daughter of Alexander Lanier and Velma (Campbell) Chambers. Helen graduated from Otis Rural High School in 1946 and then attended Fort Hays State College.
Helen was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church where she was active in the Emmanuel Women of the E.L.C.A. She was also a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary # 7428.
A longtime resident of Hoisington, Helen was a homemaker.
On October 18, 1953, she married Edwin D. Templing in Hoisington, Kansas. He died May 25, 2007.
Survivors include: a daughter, Rhonda Templing of Hoisington; and a brother, Donald L. Chambers & wife Betty of Los Angeles, California; sister-in-law, Dorothy (Templing) Justice Whitaker of Kingfisher, Oklahoma; cousin, Mae Carolyn Bopp of St. Louis, Missouri; seven nieces and nephews and numerous great and great great nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, with Reverends Richard Monson and Laura Smith presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call 1 to 5 p.m. Thursday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Friday at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
