He married Shirley Rae Jones December 24, 1951 at Lyons, Kansas. She died March 31, 2013 after more than 61 years of marriage. He then married Faye (Gilmore) Fredelake December 28, 2014 at Hoisington, Kan.
A long time Great Bend resident, Mr. Hunt was a driller for Pickrell Drilling.
He was a member of First Street Church of God, Hoisington.

Great-grandchildren: Fifteen with two on the way.
He was preceded in death by one son, Bobby Rae Hunt, and one brother, William Hunt, whose children he was instrumental in helping to raise, William Hunt, Jr., Connie Carithers, Ladonna Sinnett and Teresa Andsanger.
