Has the local economic tide turned? That’s a question that may be difficult to answer in 60 seconds, however, here are a couple of positive indicators & observations.
In my opinion…the Gt. Bend Chamber of Commerce has made some excellent improvements in the last few years. And trust me…it’s in spite of the fact I’m a board member. Organization…communication…and what the chamber does have all improved. For the first time in a decade…the chamber has shown positive growth in membership for 2 consecutive years. That number is 40. To me…that’s a sign of confidence in the economy…and in the Chamber of Commerce organization.
Another positive and you may not agree. The My Town project was a bold move by some key individuals who put their money where their mouth is. We refer to that as “where the rubber meets the road.” I’d go one step further…and again you may not agree. Had it not been for the continuing revitalization, including My Town, and forward thinking on Great Bend’s downtown…I doubt we’d be seeing a new 6 screen Cinema being built by next year.
This is progress…and progress comes with a price. It takes belief…commitment…and money. Please support your local businesses.
I’m Eagle g.m. Rick Nulton…thanks for listening!
