LYONS – (AP) – A 53-year-old Lyons man has been sentenced to about 27 years in prison for raping two girls between the ages of 4 and 7.
Stanley W. Points, who appeared Wednesday before District Judge Hannelore Kitts, received the 330-month sentence as part of a plea agreement. The agreement made in December removed potential Jessica’s Law penalties – life in prison without possibility of parole for 25 years – from the complaint against Points by omitting any language indicating children were involved.
Points, who was convicted of two counts of rape, was initially charged with six crimes under Jessica’s Law alleging three girls between the ages of 4 and 7 were involved, according to Rice County District Court records.
He was initially charged with aggravated indecent liberties, attempted rape and sexual exploitation of a 6- or 7-year-old girl; aggravated indecent liberties and attempted rape of a 5- or 6-year-old girl; and aggravated indecent liberties with a 4- or 5-year-old girl.
