A 737-200 aircraft from California that was expected to land in Great Bend Wednesday afternoon postponed their flight until Thursday morning due to weather conditions in California.
Great Bend Municipal Airport Manager Martin Miller says it will be the largest aircraft the airport has hosted since the 1980’s when then-Senator Bob Dole landed in Great Bend in a 727. The aircraft plans a stop in Great Bend to refuel, because Great Bend’s Fixed Based Operator Centerline Aviation offered them a good fuel price. Miller said the runway at the Airport is not built for aircrafts the size of the 737-200 to land there on a regular basis, but the Federal Aviation Administration said it can safely take planes of that size two or three times a year.
