Larned – Donald D. Peterson, 81, passed away January 29, 2016, at Via Christi St. Francis Select Specialty, Wichita.

He was born May 22, 1934, in Larned, the son of Eldon A. and Hilda Tina Petersen Peterson. A lifetime area resident, he owned Peterson Electric in Larned.

He was of the Lutheran faith. He was a member of the V.F.W., Kiwanis Club, Peterson Electric Bowling Team and a city council member, all of Larned. He served in the United States Army.

On December 12, 1954, he married Nita Gaye Geil in Albert. She survives.

Other survivors include: two sons, Duayne (Tina) Peterson, Greensboro, N.C. and Bryan (Sarah) Peterson, Highland Ranch, C.O.; a brother, Darryl (Susan) Peterson, Hutchinson; six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Lynn Peterson and a grandson, Brandon Taylor Peterson.

Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 6, 2016, at the Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, with Darryl Peterson presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Beckwith Mortuary, Larned. Burial will be in the Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend with military graveside rites.
