On Monday night, Concrete Services requested a recommendation from the Great Bend Planning Commission to rezone their property on 2nd Street and grant a conditional use permit, so they can use a washout pit to clean out their concrete trucks on that property. The planning commission approved the rezoning recommendation, but decided to seek more information before approving the conditional use permit because of complaints from residents around the plant about dust and debris. Planning Commission Chairman, Steve Dobratz.
DOBRATZ-THE DUST PROBLEM by Matt Unruh
Dobratz said they will be asking Great Bend City Engineer Robert Winieke to attend their next Planning Commission meeting in a couple of weeks to help come up with some solutions to the dust problem. Concrete Services is no longer operating their washout pit at their 2nd Street location. The Planning Commission only advises the Great Bend City Council on issues like this, and the decision on the permit will ultimately be made by the City Council.
