Edna L. Gutowski, 95, died February 14, 2016, at Cherry Village Nursing Home, Great Bend, KS. She was born June 4, 1920, in Hutchinson, the daughter of Walter and Esther (Hamm) Barnes.
A longtime resident of Hoisington, Edna was a homemaker and a cook for Maude’s Colonial House Restaurant for many years where she was famous for her pies and bread rolls.
On April 14, 1937, she married Arthur Joseph Dyer. He died June 5, 1961. She then married
Siegfried O. Gutowski on July 8, 1975, at the Hoisington Bible Church parsonage. He died March 9, 2012.
She was a member of the Hoisington Bible Church. Edna was also an avid bowler and belonged to a local league.
She is survived by; five children, Donna Marcellus & husband William of Hoisington, Ernie Dyer and wife Jan of Lawrence, Ed Dyer and wife Nan of Healdton, OK, Marie Johnson and husband Perry of Wellington, CO, Cozetta Muth and husband Steve of Salina; three stepchildren, Angie Gutowski of Wichita, Ilona Caster and husband Mitchell G. of Wichita, Bridget Sanders and husband Frank of Little Rock, AR; 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren and 14 step great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands; a son, Gerald Dyer; three brothers, Harold, Walter, Jr., and Frank Barnes; and a sister, Mary Ellen.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, February 19, 2016, at the Hoisington Bible Church, with Pastor Gary Clark presiding. Burial will follow in Hoisington Cemetery. Friends may call 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Wednesday, and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home, with family to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m.
