ELFRIEDA ADDIE CECILIA LANG WOYDZIAK
1917-2016
Elfrieda Addie Cecilia Lang Woydziak passed away February 25, 2016 in Boulder, Colorado. She was born April, 1917 south of Beaver, Kansas, daughter of Robert and Anna (Reif) Lang. She was a Barton County Resident all her life until July of 2014 when she moved to Boulder. On October 11, 1938, she married Edwin Woydziak at St. Joseph’s Church in Beaver, Kansas. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1970. After living in Hitschmann for 31 years after his death, she moved to Claflin in 1978, where she resided for 13 years.
She was a member of Dubuque and Claflin Altar Societies, Christian Mothers, D of I for over 50 years, and a 4-H Leader. Elfrieda was a kind, generous, gracious, high-spirited, devout, and loving Daughter, Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all her family and many, many friends. She enjoyed playing cards, bingo, crocheting afghans, and making quilts for all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She took pride in cooking for the senior citizens of Claflin for many years. She travelled in every state in the United States, enjoyed several Caribbean and Hawaiian cruises, and travelled throughout many countries in Europe.
Her oldest daughter, Betty Woydziak Thompson, passed away on December 10, 2003, and her son, Alan Woydziak, passed away June 28, 2014. Her son-in-law, Harold (Tom) Thompson passed away on September 19, 2009. Survivors include daughter, Bonnie Woydziak Burkhart, and her husband, Jerry, of Boulder Colorado; daughter-in-law, Beth Woydziak, of Morrison, Colorado; brother Marvin (Spank} Lang and wife, Sue of Hays, Kansas; six grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers: Albert, William, August, Ernest, Vernon, and Edwin Lang, and three sisters: Susanna Redetzke, Viola Weber, and Frances Lang.
Wake Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church in Claflin from 4 to 6 pm on Friday, March 4th, followed by a 7 pm Rosary at the Church. There will be a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am on March 5th at Immaculate Conception Church, celebrated by Father Terrance Klein. Burial will be 2 p.m. Saturday, at the St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Dubuque, Kansas, following the meal at Claflin.
