OBITUARY INFORMATION

He was employed by Myers Water Well Service, and the Great Bend Fire Department from 1950 to 1968, earning the rank as Captain.

Mr. Charles was a lifetime Great Bend resident.

He was a 1st Sgt in the United States Army, serving in World War II, 10th Mountain Division, and in Korea, as a combat engineer.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3111, Great Bend.

 

SURVIVORS

Two sons: Rich Charles of Great Bend and Duayne Charles, Jr. of Emporia

One sister: Alberta Hurd of Colorado Springs, Colo.

One granddaughter: Karen Jean Burt, Middleburg, Fla.

Two great-grandchildren: Dalton Burt and Logan Burt

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Karen Jean Charles and three sisters, Virginia Steiner, Matilda Bennet and JoAnn Charles.

 

SERVICE INFORMATION

A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place.
