Murder Suspect Adam Longoria Seeks a Return of Privileges in jail

Adam Longoria, the man accused of killing 14-year-old Great Bend resident Alicia DeBolt has asked the court to reinstate his jailhouse privileges. Defense attorneys for Adam Longoria filed a motion Tuesday seeking restoration of his phone, visitation and mail privileges at the Sedgwick County jail. Barton County District Judge Hannelore Kitts severed those privileges in July after Longoria violated a gag order by contacting the media. The judge then allowed only his immediate family to be allowed visitation and ordered all his mail screened. His attorneys say sufficient time has now passed to make it clear to Longoria that his actions have ramifications. Prosecutors had contended his public statements undermine his right to a fair trial and unjustly caused public safety concerns by suggesting there is a killer on the loose.
