If Missouri does leave the Big 12, they will go with unpleasant memories of their last visit to Manhattan. Behind a stout defense and an offense that always does just enough, the 20th ranked Kansas State Wildcats beat the Tigers 24-17 at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.
The Wildcats built a 24-3 lead through three quarters, then held on as Missouri scored to fourth quarter touchdowns to get within 7 at 24-17. But led by quarterback Collin Klein, the Wildcats drove the field and ran out the clock inside the Mizzou 10-yard line. KSU led 10-3 at halftime, then added to their lead with touchdowns in the third and fourth quarters before the Tigers began their comeback.
Missouri outgained the Wildcats 325 to 286 but KSU’s ball control offense effectively kept the ball away from the Tigers offense with a running game that was led by John Hubert who rushed for 125 yards on 26 carries. Klein once again turned in a lunch pail effort, rushing for 48 yards and three touchdowns while completing 11-16 passes for 111 yards.
Kansas State, now 5-0 on the season, plays at Texas Tech next Saturday.
