Belpre – Helen R. Berscheidt, 94, died April 19, 2013 at the Halstead Health and Rehabilitation Center, Halstead.
She was born November 22, 1918 the daughter of Matt and Martha Heinke Maes. A lifetime area resident she was a Farmwife and an Occupational Therapist for the Larned State Hospital for 25 years.
She was a member of the St. Bernard Catholic Church and Altar Society, both of Belpre and the Zook Community EHU.
On February 4, 1941 she married John N. Berscheidt in Claflin. He passed away in 1974.
Survivors include; a son; Thomas Berscheidt, Great Bend, two daughters; Betty Meyers, Newton and Jayne Suiter, Edmond, OK, five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by; six brothers; Martin, Ben, Chris, Matt, John and Frank Maes; and four sisters; Mary Beste, Agnes Miller, Anna Wolking and Gertrude Walters, and a granddaughter Amy Lynn Suiter.

Memorial Mass will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 11th at the St. Bernard’s Catholic Church, Belpre with Father Warren Stecklein and Father John Maes officiating. Rosary will be at 7:00 p.m. Friday, May 10th at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned. Friends may sign the register from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Mortuary. Inurnment will be in the Lakin Comanche Cemetery, Ellinwood at a later date.
