TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) – Kansas Department of Transportation Secretary Deb Miller is leaving her post in December to take a position with a national transportation planning and policy group.
Gov. Sam Brownback announced Miller’s departure Tuesday. She will be joining Cambridge Systematics, which is headquartered in Cambridge, Mass.
She has served as KDOT secretary under the administrations of Brownback, a Republican in his first term, and Democratic Govs. Kathleen Sebelius and Mark Parkinson.
Miller was the first female to head the state transportation agency. Her last day will be Dec. 16.
She’s also the first member of Brownback administration to leave her post since he took office in January.
Miller has spent 20 years with KDOT and was involved with the development of the 1989, 1999 and 2010 comprehensive transportation programs.
