Larned City Council Approves Contract for Sale of Armory Building

Earlier this week, the Larned City Council met, with the potential sale of the old armory building being one of the topics of discussion. The Council had already selected Heartland Irrigation out of Moundridge as the buyer of the facility, who designs and sells field crop irrigation systems. Lane Massey is the City Manager of Larned.

Massey said the paperwork and the title work for the property will take another 30 days, and Heartland Irrigation and the City still have to take care of some zoning issues, but he anticipates that they will take ownership of the building within the next 30 to 60 days.

The City of Larned sold the armory building to Heartland Irrigation for 250,000 dollars. The City of Larned opted to sell the old Armory Building, after the National Guard vacated the facility and turned the ownership over to the City in March of 2010.
