Lyle Dean Juergensen

Obit picLyle Dean Juergensen, age 77, of Great Bend, Kansas passed away at Great Bend Regional Hospital on January 10, 2014. Lyle was born May 1, 1936 in Great Bend, Kansas the son of Emil and Alverta (Steinert) Juergensen.

Lyle graduated from Great Bend High School and attended Barton County Community College. He was Baptised on July 12, 1936 and confirmed on April 23, 1950 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend, where he was also a member. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1960 where he was stationed in Germany. During his time in the Air Force, he was an M.P. and was in charge of canine training. Lyle worked in various jobs in the oilfield from his teens and finally retired at the age of 75. The oilfield was his passion. He enjoyed moving into Great Bend where he was closer to his family and friends. Lyle also enjoyed watching his grandchildren grow up, his dog girlie, playing cards, and drilling for oil in the oil patch. 

Lyle married Bev Ukens on February 19, 1961 at Great Bend.

Survivors include his wife, Bev, of the home; three daughters: Deb and husband Paul Marshall of Great Bend, Cheryl and husband Jack Reichenberger of De Soto, Kansas, and Brenda and husband Mark Hunter of Colwich, Kansas; three sisters: Marilyn Keller of San Antonio, Texas, Vera and husband Louie Bortolotti of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Carma and husband Darrell Tinkel of Great Bend; two brothers, Fred and wife Darla Juergensen of Smithville, Missouri, Louis Juergensen and companion Karen Kozisek of Omaha, Nebraska; seven grandchildren: Levi Azeltine, James Azeltine, and Beth Reichenberger all of De Soto, Tanner and wife Mina Marshall of Katy, Texas, Logan Marshall of Great Bend, and Ashleigh and Easton Hunter of Colwich. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, David Juergensen, and brother-in-law, Marion Keller.

Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday January 13, 2014 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Great Bend with Pastor Adam Wutka officiating. Family will receive friends on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to Trinity Lutheran Church or Golden Belt Human Society in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Road, Great Bend, Kansas 67530.
