Pawnee Rock – Amy C. Harter, age 40, passed away February 3, 2014 in Bellevue, TN.
She was born in Great Bend, the daughter of Glenn and Elaine Amerine Mull. A lifetime area resident, she was a Family Owner/Operator of Mull Farms and Feeding Inc. and was also a sales representative for Tastefully Simple and Creative Memories. Her family enjoyed traveling and had been on adventures around the world. Amy’s constant smile had a way of brightening up everybody’s day. Her strength, courage, spirit and love of Christ were the foundation of her in all she did for family and community.
As a child Amy was always singing and spending time with her friends. Amy could hardly put a book down. She was very active in 4-H beginning as a child with her food, horse and sheep projects. She was also a Girl Scout and loved camping her whole life. In high school she was a pianist, vocalist, and drummer with a special love for the Beginnings Vocal group. “Music is My Life” was her quote from high school. Amy also sang in the Pawnee Rock Easter pageants.
She was a member of the Christian community, a Central Kansas Christian Academy school board member, Sigma Kappa chapter of Theta Tau serving as president her junior and senior year, and while planning for a formal at the sorority it led her to meet the man of her dreams and soul mate, Doug Harter. She graduated from Larned High School in 1991 and from Kansas State University in 1995 with a BA in Human Resource Management.
Amy was very active in Pawnee County 4-H serving as a Fair Board Member, 4-H foundation member, 4-H club leader, and project leader. She was a 2011 4-H Alumni Award winner. Her family was host in the LABO Exchange program, hosting a Japanese 4-Her for 3 weeks during the Pawnee County Fair. She was also a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, National Cattlemen’s Beef Association, Larned Indians Booster club, Girl Scouts, and the Association of Agriculture Production Executives.
On January 1, 1994 she married Douglas S. Harter at Great Bend. He survives.
Other survivors include her son, Chase, of the home; her grandfather, Keith Mull, Larned; a brother, John Mull ( Kristy), Larned; and a sister, Jennifer Ladwig (Walter), London, England. mother-in-law Marilyn Harter, Bern; Sister-in-law Stephanie Winenger (Kevin), Tribune; brother-in-law Stan Harter, Lander, WY; and nieces and nephews.
She left for Heaven with her parents, Glenn and Elaine Mull and her daughter, Samantha C. Harter.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Marian Mull, Loren and Nadine Amerine, her father-in-law John Harter.
Memorial Service will be 2pm Tuesday at the Assembly Of God Church, 601 Patton Road, Great Bend, Kansas with Pastors Roy Savage and Jay Beuoy presiding. Friends may sign the register book from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday and Monday at the Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned.
