Date of Birth: March 12, 1941 at Lucas, Kansas, the son of James A. & Agnes (Rezabek) Brozek 

OBITUARY INFORMATION 

He married Mary “Paula” Hipsher October 16, 1965 at Great Bend, Kansas. 

He was a service technician for Southwestern Bell and AT&T.

Mr. Brozek was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1962 coming from Lucas, Kansas.

He was a United States Army veteran, serving during the Vietnam Conflict.

He was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Southwestern Bell Telephone Pioneers, and Kansas ACTS Ministry, where he was actively involved in taking people to the ACTS Retreat in Amarillo, Texas.

Mr. Brozek was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed cowboy poetry and music, and attending ranch rodeos. His greatest love was for his family, especially his grandchildren.   A very kind and gentle man, Mr. Brozek enjoyed traveling, especially to Alaska and visit family.

two sons: Justin Brozek and his wife Arlene of Bovina, TX, and Joshua Brozek and his fiancée Stephanie Larson of Chaska, MN

one daughter: Jill Schmitz and her husband Adelbert “A. J.”, Jr. of Wichita, KS

daughter of heart: Karen Harrelson of Bel Aire, KS

three brothers: Wendell Brozek of La Crosse, KS, Wayne Brozek of Livingston, MT, and Eldon Brozek of Great Bend, KS

one sister: Lillian Edwardson of Topeka, KS

seven grandchildren: Jake Brozek, Justus Brozek, Emma Brozek, Elizabeth Brozek, Ethan Brozek, Jordan Schmitz, and Joni Schmitz

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Rounkles and Amelia Ehly.

 

SERVICE INFORMATION 

Vigil service will be at 7:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2014 at Bryant Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial to celebrate Weldon’s life will be at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, June 21, 2014 at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Great Bend. Father Don Bedore will be celebrant. The casket will not be opened at the church.  Military rites will be conducted by Fort Riley Honor Guard. Cremation will follow the service and privatefamily inurnment will take place at a later date at Everitt Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday, June 20, 2014 at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are requested to Kansas ACTS Ministry or Lasting Life Ministries for the Benefit of Almost Home or Holy Family School Endowment or St. Rose Foundation for the benefit of the Heartland Cancer Center, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
