Married Kimm M. Lewis December 27, 2011 at Great Bend, Kansas.

He worked for H-2 Trucking.

Mr. Achatz grew up in Great Bend and lived in Virginia before moving back to Great Bend.

He was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam conflict.

He was of the Catholic faith.  He was a dedicated husband and father and a most loyal friend to many. He had a deep passion for Harley-Davidson motorcycles and was a charter member of the Sidewinders.

Place of Service: Bryant Funeral Home

Officiant: Pastors Chuck Carpenter and Mike Joiner

Interment: Great Bend Cemetery, Great Bend, Kansas with military rites by the United States Navy Honor Guard

Visitation:  1:00 to 9:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 and 9:00 a.m. to service time, Friday, September 19, 2014 at Bryant Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Thursday at the funeral home.
