Donitta Ann Conrad, 50, of Burwell, Nebraska died at home on October 11, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burwell. Rev. Greg Volzke will officiate. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5 -8 p.m. at Hitchcock Funeral Home in Burwell, Nebraska. Burial will be Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in the Hoisington Cemetery in Hoisington, Kansas. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the For the Cure, Ropers in Need or the Community Memorial Health Center.
Donitta was born January 13, 1964 in Ransom, Kansas to Donald and Ruby (Armer) Popp. She went to elementary school at Pawnee Rock, Kansas and graduated from Hoisington High School in 1982. After graduation she attended Barton County Community College at Great Bend, Kansas where she received her associate’s degree.
Donitta married JP Conrad on April 27, 1985 in Hoisington, Kansas. They lived in Kansas for a time before moving to Burwell, Nebraska in 1987. Donitta later worked at the Community Memorial Health Center in Burwell as a nurse. In 2005 she attended Mid Plains Community College in North Platte, Nebraska to continue her nursing education.
Donitta and JP moved to Grand Island, Nebraska in 2010. Donitta was a nurse at Tiffany Square in Grand Island. In 2012 Donitta and JP moved back to Burwell where she continued to work at the Community Memorial Health Center until her health forced her to quit.
Donitta was a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church. She was and avid gardener and an outstanding cook. She loved the outdoors and was very passionate about her work and care for the elderly and she loved to spoil her grandkids.
Donitta is survived by her husband JP Conrad of Burwell, Nebraska. Two children, Bruce and Maggie Conrad of Bartlett, Nebraska and Jessica and Evan Goodwin of Hastings, Nebraska and four grandchildren, Chet, Gracie, Natalie and Bozley Conrad. Her parents, Don and Ruby Popp of Hoisington, Kansas. Two brothers, Greg and Marla Davidson and DeWayne Davidson all of Great Bend, Kansas and a sister, Glenda and Brett Cloutier of Clermont, Florida and nieces and nephews.
Donitta was preceded in death by her grandparents, Esther and Herman Popp and Lena Jenkins and Leo Armer. Her uncle Duane Popp, a cousin, Kevin Popp and her father-in-law, Bob Conrad.
