Seat belt crack down in Great Bend and the rest of the state

police-lights1.jpgBeginning next Monday, February 23rd through March 6th the Great Bend Police Department will join other Kansas Law Enforcement to stop what has become an epidemic for the past several years, drivers not wearing their seat belts.

Officer Jefferson Davis with the Great Bend Police Department says this problem is popping up all over the state.

In 2014, 34 teens lost their lives due to car crashes in Kansas. 63 percent of those teens were not properly restrained. Davis mentions it is fairly easy for law enforcement to spot passengers not wearing their seat belts.

Officers in Great Bend and around the state will step up citations during this period so they remind you to buckle up.
