She married Benjamin J. Shaffer November 26, 1952 at Olmitz, Kansas.  A Great Bend resident since 1995, she had previously resided in Hays from 1953 to 1969, Great Bend from 1969 to 1985, and Ness City from 1985 to 1995. Mrs. Shaffer was a Registered Nurse and private care provider.

Mrs. Shaffer was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altar Society and St. Rose School of Nursing Alumni, Great Bend.

Survivors include her husband: Benjamin J. Shaffer, of the home; three sons: Kenneth Shaffer and his wife Donna of Great Bend, Tom Shaffer and his wife Sue of Wichita, and Dan Shaffer of St. John; six daughters: Linda Elliott and her husband Thomas of McPherson, Patsy Giangrosso and her husband Charli of Gladstone, Mo., Treva Goodman and her husband Allen of Hays, Cathy Shaffer of Hays, Laurie Logan and her husband Richard of Clay Center, and Sharon Denney and her husband Joe of Great Bend; 16 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one brother, Paul Bahr; and five sisters, Irma VonPessl, Valeria Malek, Matilda Spicka, Marie Maneth and Margaret Wendel.

She was a homemaker and worked as an operator for AT&T, as a dispatcher for the Rush County Sheriff, and was co-owner of the Bison Mini-Mall.

Mrs. Reichel was a Great Bend, Kansas resident since 2001 coming from Bison.

She was a member of First United Methodist Church and Bison United Methodist Church. She was a 4H leader for the Lone Star Rangers and was an avid painter. She enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting, as well as always planting a very large garden every year.

Survivors include her husband: Neal Reichel, of the home; two sons: Joel Reichel and his wife Terry of Alexander, and Jody Reichel and his husband Seth Munter of San Francisco, Calif.; two daughters: Charlotte Brening and her husband Phil of Fort Worth, Texas, and Cherie Belford and her husband Larry of Hoisington; one sister, Sandi McNulty of Cheyenne, Wyo.; one brother: Ron Mellies of Glendale, Ariz.; eleven grandchildren, Nicholas Brening, Michael Brening, Sandra Ritterhouse, Heather Whisnant, Kendra Belford, Shawn Marvin, Tyler Marvin, Levi Reichel, Ashley Reichel, Rebecca Reichel and Travis Reichel; 23 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Irvin Mellies and Bob Miller.

A Great Bend resident since 1943, coming from Olmitz, Mrs. Linenberger was a registered nurse, working in OB at St. Rose Hospital and later at Central Kansas Medical Center. She then worked for Dr. Anol W. Beahm.

She was a member of Prince of Peace Parish at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Altar Society and the St. Rose School of Nursing Alumni Association.

James J. “Jim” Rossman, age 87 years, longtime Albert, Kansas resident, passed away on Thursday evening, May 5, 2016 at Great Bend Health and Rehabilitation Center in Great Bend, Kansas.  Jim was born on August 29, 1928 at Scipio, Kansas to John and Agnes (Wolken) Rossman. Jim came to McCracken, Kansas to work on a farm, where he met his future wife, Betty.  He was united in marriage to Betty Ann Basgall on June 22, 1953 at La Crosse, Kansas. Jim lived in Claflin and Ellinwood, Kansas before settling in Albert in September of 1957. He worked for many oil companies in all capacities in the oil patch.  Jim owned and operated Rossman Wood for 27 years, cutting and selling tons of firewood in the area. He was a longtime member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Olmitz, Kansas and a member of the Knights Of Columbus Council 2100 at Olmitz. Jim was also a longtime active member of the Albert Volunteer Fire Department.  He loved his numerous and varied livestock, his large gardens and canning, hunting and fishing for channel catfish.

Survivors include one son, Verlyn (and his wife, Kathy) Rossman of Albert, Kansas; three daughters:  Illeen Becker of Chandler, Arizona, Dianna (and her husband, Rod) Cushenbery of Albert, Kansas, and Tammy Rodie of Phoenix, Arizona; six grandchildren: April Deines, Jason Rossman, Shawn Helie, Jeffrey Pivonka, and Evan and Cale Cushenbery; six great-grandchildren: Chyanne and Spencer Deines, Brody and Braylin Rossman, and Johanna and Vienna Helie; three brothers:  Virgil (and his wife, Pat) Rossman, Arthur (and his wife, Phyllis), and Earl Dean Rossman, all of Richmond, Kansas; three sisters:  Mary Mulrenin of Fenton, Michigan, Dorothy (and her husband, Bob) Shields of Princeton, Kansas and Erma (and her husband, Dan) Brown of Gardner, Kansas; many nieces and nephews.  Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Betty on December 6, 2015, and two brothers, Donnie Rossman and Robert Rossman.

A lifetime resident of Otis, he was a farmer and a stockman.
On January 10, 1951, he married Doris Jean Suchy in LaCrosse. She preceded him in death on September 7, 2013.

He was born March 30, 1928, in Wichita, the son of Adam Franklin and Bernice Covington Good. He was a carpenter and mechanic.

He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Jack Kreiger Post No. 7271, Larned.

Survivors include: two daughters, Sanda Hopkins, Vista, California and Tammi and husband Dave Miller, Deland, Florida; two grandchildren, Michael Anderson and Fiance Caren Carlsen, Vista, CA and Matthew Warmoth, Mountain View, CA.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Clifford, Chester, Farris, Alfred and Dale; four sisters, Elen Ruth Good, Alma Louise Beechey, Cleo Good, and Alice Pratt.

Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Beckwith Mortuary Chapel, Larned, with Robert Sallee presiding. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Larned Cemetery, Larned, with military graveside rites.
