ROZEL – Roger J. Spence, 81, passed away March 30, 2016, at the Pawnee Valley Community Hospital in Larned.
He was born August 12, 1934, at Garden City, Kansas; the son of Sam J. and Neva (Rogers) Spence. He farmed for a number of years, and later worked at Morrill Hay Company in Larned, and for Blattner Manufacturing in Rozel. He was an eight-year member of the Army National Guard. For more than a quarter-century, Roger enjoyed being a square dance caller, travelling throughout Kansas and adjoining states. He was a member of the Kansas Square Dance Callers Association, and served as the club caller for several local square dance clubs in Lewis, Dodge City, and Hutchinson.
On November 1, 1955, Roger married Marjorie Ruth Josefiak at the Grace Lutheran Church in Larned, Kansas; they celebrated their 60th anniversary last November. She survives.
Other survivors include: his children, Chris Spence, Cindy (Ray) Reno, and Tammy (Dan) Binder; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Reba Roach; he is survived by one brother, David (Mary) Spence, of Lewis.
Following cremation, a memorial graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 2, 2016, at the Rozel Cemetery with Pastor Stan Bryant presiding. Robert (Bob) Warren Miller
Colorado Springs, Colorado – Robert (Bob) Warren Miller, 77, passed away at his home, March 22, 2016. Bob was born December 8, 1938 in Philadelphia, PA.
Bob was a Major in the USAF and retired in 1982 after 22 years of service. He was also a retired Realtor in Colorado Springs.
Bob was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Glenda, four children, Laura Neubauer, Gwen Miller, Gregory Miller and Matthew Miller.
He was a role model for his children, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Bob loved being with family and friends and he will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 31, 2016 at St. Patrick Church, 6455 Brookpark Dr., Colorado Springs, CO 80918. Graveside service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday April 2, 2016 at the Larned Cemetery with Father Warren Stecklein presiding. Inurnment will be in the Larned Cemetery, Larned, Kansas.

Larned – Larry L. Miller, 73, passed away March 27, 2016 at Hays Medical Center, Hays, Kansas.
He was born March 11, 1943 in Great Bend, Kansas; the son of Warren W. and Glennis Evelyn Lile Miller. A lifetime area resident, he was a farmer and an auctioneer.
He was a member of the American Legion Post No.106, served in the Armed Forces from 1965-1971, was a past board member of the Pawnee County COOP, Pointview Cemetery board member, National Rifle Association, Pheasants Forever and Ducks Unlimited.
Survivors include his children; Lisa Wyatt (Ricky), Great Bend, Lacy Pfannenstiel (Dustin), Norton, Lyle Miller (Michelle Kennedy), Larned, Lori Behnke (Ben), Bushton, Lynn Miller (Jessie), Larned, Lonny Miller, Larned and Troy Miller, Council Bluff, Iowa; Larry’s fiancé, Sandra Moffet, Larned; and ten grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother Brian Miller.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Beckwith Mortuary with Pastor Mark Slattery presiding, the family requests that friends and family please dress casual for the funeral service. Alice Jean Seltman
Larned – Alice Jean Seltman, 99, passed away March 27, 2016 at Diversicare of Larned.
She was born January 24, 1917 in Pawnee Rock, the daughter of Vernon (Pete) and Thelma Williams Daniels. A lifetime area resident, she was a homemaker and a retired Occupational Therapist from the Larned State Hospital.
She was a member of the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, Lincoln Banner E.H.U., Sunflower Club E.H.U. and the Li-ar-mu Club, all of Larned.
On September 22, 1935, she married Albert August Seltman in Rozel. He passed away January 7, 2000.
Survivors include: two sons, Scott (Diane) Seltman, Larned and Kent Seltman, Spokane, Washington, a daughter, Linda (Dave) Bryan, Overland Park; two daughters-in-law, Candy and Colleen; eleven grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Alan and John Seltman; a brother, Pete Daniels and a daughter-in-law, Kristine Seltman.
Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.

ISABELLE A. BEFORT
Isabelle A. (Herrman) Befort, age 98, former Great Bend, Kansas resident, died March 25, 2016 at Good Samaritan Society in Lyons, Kansas. She was born on January 8, 1918 in rural Rush County near Liebenthal, Kansas, the daughter of John L. and Katherine (Weber) Herrman. Moving to Great Bend from Hays, Kansas in 1948, Isabelle was a Great Bend resident until November 2012. She was united in marriage to Victor A. Befort on September 8, 1941 at Hays Kansas. Mr. Befort died on October 29, 1994. Prior to marriage, she was employed in the Office of the Rush County School Superintendent at La Crosse, Kansas. She was a homemaker for all her life and was skilled in sewing and crafts work.
Mrs. Befort was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church of Prince Of Peace Parish, a member of the Altar Society, and a former member of the St. Rose of Lima Altar Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, all of Great Bend, Kansas.
Survivors include two sons, Robert J. Befort and Eugene L. Befort, both of Great Bend, Kansas; nine nephews and eight nieces. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (Victor A. Befort), three brothers (Harry J. Herrman, Felix Herrman, and Jerome “Jim” Herrman), five sisters (Louise Noller, Hilda Mazouch, Lorene Kuhn, Johanna Herrman, and Frances Basgall), three nieces and one infant nephew.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Great Bend, Kansas with Fr. Ted Stoecklein officiating. A Great Bend, Kansas resident since 1944, growing up on a farm near Hudson, Mr. Felke was an oilfield driller and later a truck driver and a farrier.
He was a United States Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Bunker Hill as a barber in the South Pacific during World War II.
He was a member of B. P. O. Elks Lodge #1127 and Great Bend Saddle Club.

Larned – Kerri A. (Broughton) Laing, 61, passed away March 21, 2016 at Via Christi St. Francis Hospital, Wichita.
She was born October 20, 1954 in Hoisington, Kansas; the daughter of Jack and LaDene Brewer Broughton. A longtime area resident; she worked at the Larned State Hospital.
On October 24, 2004 she married Bryan Elden Laing in Larned. He survives.
Other survivors include; her father, Jack, Dodge City; two sons, Chris Laing, Topeka and Ryan McQuitty, Burleson, Texas; five daughters, Shawna Wilder, Larned, Chantay Hadley, Emporia, Elisha Halbert, Caldwell, Rachael Bell, Canadian, Texas and Laree Laing, Larned; three brothers, Ronald Broughton, Owasso, Oklahoma, Jack E. Beverly Joan Zink

Beverly Joan Zink, 76, died March 20, 2016, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. She was born April 17, 1939, in Hoisington, Kansas, the daughter of Henry P. and Augusta (Hlavaty) Lichter. Beverly graduated from Otis High School in 1957 and then Salt City Business College in Hutchinson.
On July 23, 1960, she married Donald V. Zink in Olmitz, Kansas. They resided and raised their family in Claflin, Kansas. Beverly was a mother and homemaker first, but had also worked in retail sales, and retired as a para educator for U.S.D. 354. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved baking, gardening, canning and was an excellent seamstress.
Beverly was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was also a member of the Altar Society and the Daughters of Isabella. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels and Senior Citizen Bingo.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Donald Zink; five children, Daniel Zink (Melanie) of Ellinwood, Mark Zink of Salina, Susan Zink of Claflin, Janet Klug (Kent) of Overland Park, and Joni Haines (Don) of Great Bend; brother, John Henry Lichter of Great Bend, two sisters, Imelda Riedel (John), Mary Lou Schenk all of Olmitz; 13 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and a twin sister, Barbara J. Masterson.
Vigil service with Altar Society Rosary will by 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home.
